Orchard Meadow Lodge Development, Opening March 2012

We are pleased to announce our plans to open an exclusive new lodge development called The Orchard Meadow.  Our plans are now complete and construction of 12 lodge pitches got underway on 3rd October 2011.  We have a long history of high class park development and The Orchard Meadow will be no different.  There will be a range of pitches available which will accomodate some amazing lodges measuring up to 20’ x 44’.

We recently attended The Lawns caravan exhibition where we saw a variety of stunning lodges from manufacturers including Willerby, Omar, Wessex, Pemberton and Cambrian.  We have selected a range of stylish lodges, so potential owners can either purchase one of these or design their own.  Bespoke units can be made to suit your specific needs and tastes at a price which is often comparable to “off-the-peg” models.  We plan to offer beautiful lodges from just £65,000, this is a great opportunity to own a holiday home on one of the top parks in North Wales.  We invite you to view our new development from December 2011, a select number of lodges will be available to view in the New Year.

The Orchard will be a small, exclusive development of 12 lodges.  We are already attracting interest and the first pitch has been reserved.  If you would like to discuss owning a lodge in North Wales, and becoming part of Tree Tops, please call 01745 560279.

Happy St Davids Day

March the 1st is an important date on Tree Tops. Not only does our park reopen for the 2009 season, it is also St. Davids Day. St. David or Dewi Sant as he is known in Welsh is the patron saint of Wales and March 1st is a day celebrated by many Welsh people around the world.

It is interesting to note that of the four saints associated with the countries of the United Kingdom it is believed that St David was the only Saint born in the country that adopted him. As you probably know the Daffodil is used to celebrate St Davids and with our love of flowers on Tree Tops we always try and put on the best possible display. Each year our fantastic gardening team plant between 1000 and 1500 new daffodil bulbs, we also plant the previous years bulbs throughout the park.  To us the daffodil is always one of the first signs that spring is just around the corner and after the winter hard winter we have they are definitely very welcome and worth celebrating.

Snow, What Snow?

A few of our customers have telephoned to ask how deep the snow is at Tree Tops, we imagine thats the general perception of North Wales.  We’re please to report that the coast is quite literally clear.  It has to be be said that we are generally blessed with mild weather, you could even say that Tree Tops has its own micro climate.  Our fantastic gardening team reckon its why our gardens do so well in the summer.

If you were thinking of paying us a visit and you are concerned about the weather then please telephone and we will give you an up to date weather report.  As an extra enticement we will be making a few extra caravans available for sale over the next few days, there’s a couple of crackers.

Tree Tops reopens on the 1st of March and we are busy getting the park back into tip top condition after our winter improvement scheme.  This year we have connected further 33 caravans to piped gas and while we were at it we’ve upgraded the other services.  If all goes to plan we will have all of the park on piped gas by the start of the 2010 season. The feedback from our customers has been great, no one want to have gas bottles back.

For more details on the caravans that we have for sale or to get more information on the park please contact us in 01745 560279.

Top Green Award For Tree Tops

Professor David Bellamy has named Tree Tops Caravan Park near Prestatyn as one of the UK's most environmentally friendly holiday parks - and awarded it a special accolade for protecting and enhancing the natural world. For the sixth year running the park has been awarded a Bellamy Gold Award for its commitment to environmentally sound practices. Set in 14 acres of landscaped woodland countryside, Tree Tops Caravan Park is a five star family run caravan park with 154 pitches.

The park was created in the 1960s and has been owned and operated by the same family ever since.  Over the last 48 years thousands of trees and plants have been planted to create a haven for all kinds of wildlife.  A combination of managed planting and deliberately wild areas provide a haven for birds and insects, in particular the butterflies continue to grow in quantity and diversity.  This year the Tree Tops expanded their wild areas to further encourage butterflies and bird life.  They have also planted an area with wild flowers which has been a great success.

The park is also committed to recycling, and provides its customers with facilities to for Plastic, glass, paper and metal waste.  A new scheme due for completion this year will enable customers to compost their biodegradable waste, this compost will be used in the fantastic gardens the Park is so famous for. We also use low energy bulbs where ever possible, which helps with our commitment to the environment.  It also helps cut our electric bills so being green is good for business as well commented Andy Walker General Manager of Tree Tops.

David Bellamy said he was absolutely amazed when he discovered just how much was being done by holiday parks to protect and enhance the environment. Many parks like this have created wildlife wonderlands, and I think it’s time they were given deserved recognition for their big commitment, said Professor Bellamy.

Tree Tops award was made following a detailed audit of the park’s environmental policies, supported by comments made by caravan owners on the park.

Maureen Walker, Managing Director of Tree Tops said We are committed to the running our business in an environmentally sound way and we are delighted to receive this recognition for our hard work, we have several exciting schemes for next year which we are looking forward implementing

Wales In Bloom Winner 2008

It has just been announced that Tree Tops Caravan Park has taken first place in the Wales in Bloom competition. A tremendous amount of planning and hard work by the head gardeners David and Christine Ball has gone into ensuring this fantastic win. We produce over 15,000 plants here on the Park from seeds, plugs and cuttings, these are added to the established landscaped gardens. The dazzling colours in the floral displays throughout the parks 15 acres are truly amazing and worth viewing. This truly is gardening on a grand scale!! This year the organisers of the competition sent their most senior judge, Mr Knight. When awarding the park 1st place he said "Despite other sites raising their standards, Tree Tops continues to provide the very highest standards and is awarded 1st place this year".

Read the Judges full report

Andrew Walker, General Manager commented “We are delighted to have won this competition again. We would
like to thank our staff and customers for all of their help and hard work. The commitment required from our
gardening team immense, but their efforts have truly paid off. Having the Wales In Bloom Senior Judge assessing the
park this year was nerve wracking to say the least, but our small team have worked exceptionally hard this year to
make sure the park was looking its best. Tree Tops covers 15 acres and our gardeners manage to produce all of the
blooms in a few small greenhouse on the park and at the head gardeners home, even I’m amazed at the number
of flower they turn out! It’s another great success for our family business and it’s thanks to our Head Gardeners David
and Christine Ball, Mandy and Neil Cotterill our Wardens and Andy Luke our Grounds man.”

This is one of many awards Tree Tops has won, including the David Bellamy Gold Award and the Green Apple award
which both recognise the parks commitment to the environment, native species and their habitat. We also won
“Best Tourism Business In Flintshire” for 2007/08, this was awarded to us by Flintshire Count Council in recognition of our
contribution to the local economy and community.

Wales In Bloom Judges Report 2008

As the structure planting over recent years matures this site just gets better. Good use of appropriate plants for particular areas of the site, along with very high maintenance standards ensures a quality product from the entrance to the newest extended section. Sustainable planting over the whole site, including some very difficult terrain is supplemented with very good quality floral displays, confined to appropriate areas where their impact is most impressive. The planted areas alongside the stream are particularly attractive and well maintained. The new rock gardens have been formed impressively and with careful plant selection will further enhance the site.

Conservation is high on the agenda as evident in other awards, and adds further interest to the site.
The quality throughout encourages many of the van owners to provide their own gardens which are also of high quality, and further enhance the general appearance. Despite other sites raising their standards, Tree Tops continues to provide the very highest standards and is awarded 1st place this year.

Mr J Knight.

WATER EFFICIENCY 8/10
1. Reservoir type hanging baskets and containers.
2. Water butts collect rainwater from the main Building.
3. Water is recycled from the pond to feed the new rock garden water feature.
4. Some caravan owners collect rainwater from the roofs to water their areas.
5. Information on water saving issues printed in the Summer newsletter.

This is the 15th year our five start park has taken this highly prestigious accolade and we are over the moon with the result! This year there was an extra challenge, David Ball our Head Gardener underwent major heart surgery just five weeks before the judging. David and his wife Christine grew over 16 thousand plants in our on-site green houses from plugs, seeds and cuttings.  At the height of the season we have a gardening team of five people and this does not in our fantastic Wardens Mandy and Neil who also spend a lot of time involved with gardens between their other duties.

If you were thinking of paying us a visit, now would be a great time.  The blooms are fantastic, it’s like visiting a flower show.  We are open seven days a week and you are welcome to visit us at any time.  Tree Tops is a family run caravan park where the management team are committed to maintaining the park to the highest level whilst keeping our cost reasonable.  Ground rent ranges between £1550 and £1750 + VAT.

Welcome Back

It’s been a busy winter on Tree Tops, we’ve been busy with all kinds of new developments. Over the winter months we have redeveloped one area of the park taking thirteen ordinary bases and replacing them with eight very exclusive plots. Three of these plots are designed to accommodate luxury 40’ x 16’ twin units, such as the Willerby Newhampshire, Cosalt Monaco Duo and Omar Burlington Lodge or any other twin of this size. The remaining bases are designed to take caravans of up to 40' x 13' making this a very attractive part of the park for anyone who is looking for a very special second home in a very special location.

We have also been busy working on our new website to bring you the latest news and events on Tree Tops. Working with world renowned expert Andy Clark the Design Director of Stuff and Nonsense, we are delighted with the results and we hope that you find our new site enjoyable.

We will be posting regular updates onto to the web site to keep you up to date with what's happening on the park, so whether it is a new range of caravans being delivered or an event on the park you should be able to find out what we are up to.
